Stop living these myths or else!

STOP living these myths or else!

I have heard all about “tough love” tactics in parenting and now I find myself in a position to use them with you today. It’s out of love that I want to address these myths that seem to be plaguing our industry, these myths that you are living, these lies that you are perpetuating because, frankly, they are ruining your health and your ability to prosper! So know that this article will ruffle your feathers, know that you might get a bit cranky with me, but trust that I speak the truth of experience, and hear me out.

The Top 5 Myths You Simply MUST Stop Living

Myth One: You have no money. Really? No money at all? Surely you see that this is a falsehood you tell yourself to keep yourself in the Land of Perpetual Poverty. You just ate a donut, called a friend on your cell phone, watched a great flick on TV, and popped out for drinks with a girlfriend. You bought your co-worker a baby shower gift, you fixed the dent in your car, and you picked up the cutest little sandals for your trip to Mexico. My friend, you are not broke. You have money. So quit telling yourself and the world otherwise.

Myth Two: No one will ever hire you until you complete your 3rd degree Reiki / learn how to do blood analysis / fill in the blank with some other course or credential. Listen carefully to this my friends: this is a load of crap. This is just what you tell yourself when clients aren’t coming in the door and you think that “just one more course” will make it all come together. It won’t. Because even after “one more course” you will still not know how to market your services (no matter how long the list that you provide), you will still not know how to run a business effectively, you will still not know how to manage your time and your finances, and as a result, people still will not come to you for help. So stop taking all those courses with the idea that they will magically make your practice flourish! Learn to market what you do already for it is enough.

Myth Three: Big Pharma and the Insurance Companies will be the death of complementary and alternative medicine in North America. I don’t believe this for a second. We like to tell ourselves this because it takes the onus off of us to make our businesses thrive. We can just tell ourselves that, hey, all the propaganda against what we do is scaring people away from our offices, that “if only” insurance plans covered what we do, then we would be successful. But guess what? There are millions of people in this world and they do not all believe what they are told by advertisers and the media. Many people are actually pretty good thinkers and have it all figured out for themselves. And most people don’t even have benefits, so it’s not insurance coverage that is making or breaking your practice. It’s you.

Myth Four: My business isn’t flowing easily, it must not be “meant to be.” This is just a new-age, hokus pokus way of saying that you want it to be easy, that you think that there shouldn’t have to be any effort on your behalf, and that clients should just stream in your doors as you sit idly by. And when you don’t have that experience, when it doesn’t come easily, instead of looking at your own actions (or in-action) and the effects that they are having on your business, you simply say, “It wasn’t meant to be.” That, my dear friend, is what I call a cop-out. The Universe responds to action, motion, forward movement. An object at rest stays at rest. It’s not namby-pamby, airy-fairy jargon, it’s physics! You must make a move, you must take action, and then and only then will the momentum of your business build as a result.

Myth Five: No one will ever pay for health care so there’s no real money to be made in this industry. Really? Really?!? Then who paid billions of dollars last year for supplements in this country? Who paid my mentors enough so that they only work 6 months a year? Who paid me enough so that I bought my own condo? People will pay for health care. People the world over are paying for it now. Why are you telling yourself this crazy lie? Quit hiding behind this excuse and get your butt out there! The world is waiting…money in hand! Trust me.

Well…if you made it to this point in the article, then I guess my tough-love tactics are working :) . I beg you to reexamine the myths that you are living so that you can experience the life – and the business – of your dreams! You can do it…I know you can.
